CABICOL Suspends Handshake During Holy Mass

by Jarp Davies

Monrovia, Liberia – The Catholic Bishops Conference of Liberia (CABICOL) has released series of directives to assist in the containment and subsequent eradication of the Coronavirus in Liberia.

CABICOL wants the suspension of handshake during the celebration of the Holy Mass while communion will be administered in the palm during the Holy Eucharist instead of the tongue.

The Church is also reinforcing the hand washing protocols and hand sanitizers to be used by all.

CABICOL Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Dennis Nimene said the Catholic Church in Liberia is contemplating additional measures including the suspension of the Holy Mass and other Church related activities.

Speaking to ELBC Wednesday, Rev. Fr. Nimene disclosed that high level meetings have been taking place among local Catholic Church leaders on the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the country.

Rev. Father Nimene is meanwhile calling for patriotism and unity among Liberians as they collectively combat the virus.
