MONROVIA,LIBERIA-The Ministry of Educatiom has extended the closure of all schools until further notice from the Health Ministry and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL).
The Ministry said its previous pronouncement of March 31,2020 is subjected to revision by both institutions.
A release issued Tuesday,March 31,2020, said the Health Ministry and NPHIL are the lead decision makers during this time of National Health Emergency.
Meanwhile, all students,parents,guardians and education stakeholders are advised to observed the preventive measures and protocol put into place by the NPHIL and Helth Ministry.
The Ministry of Education had initially set March 31,2020, as the date for reopening schools in Liberia.
For now,the Ministry of Education has been urged to provide soft and hard copies of the learning materials to schools across THE Country.
The President of the Montserrado County Principal Association,Zubah Kollie, said:” The Ministry can create a porter where students can access these materials through the internet to enhence their studies.”
Mr. Kollie said:” School administrators can print out these materials,give them to individual students along with assignment and ensure that they are used as a standard for promotion to the next class.”
He noted that most students are self-supported and without evaluation, saying schools will be compelled to promote students to the next class,though the prescribed waterials were not covered,as was done during the Ebola Crisis.
Meanwhile,the President of the Montserrado County Principal Association also wants principals across Liberia to make available study materials to enhance students’ academic performance.
