Monrovia Liberia – The government of Liberia has identified a significant number of contacts associated with the number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country.
So far Liberian health Authorities have identified over 500 contacts in continuation of the search for active cases of coronavirus in the country.
This is largely due to efforts being applied both at the level of the Incident Management Team and other organizations that have put in massive efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The Liberia Crusaders for Peace, well known for its public health community social mobilization success over the years, is now collaborating with the Monrovia City Corporation on the Anti-Coronavirus Taskforce.
Under the project, the LCP and the MCC have dispatched over one thousand persons in the various communities across Montserrado County as part of ongoing initiatives to educate the public on how to prevent COVID-19.
The very spirited young people recruited under the project are now in the communities involved in major functions such as social mobilization, communication and awareness as well as active case finding.
Liberia Crusaders for Peace Executive Director, Ambassador Endee said the Active Case Finders are neither contact tracers nor are they health workers, but people who are gathering useful household information for major policy decision to aid government’s fight against COVID-19.
According to Amb Juli Endee, the data gathered by the MCC/LCP COVID-19 Taskforce is sent to the proper government of Liberia Channel for onward follow up.
She said information gathered by the Active case Finders will also be used for other major development programs by the Liberian Government.
Meanwhile, the head of the Covid-19 Social Mobilization Committee, Ambassador Juli Endee is appealing to all Liberians to cooperate with the Active Case Finders in gathering the needed information in the various communities.
