EU gives 6.9 (m) million USD Budget Support to Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The European Union (EU) has disbursed a grant of six-point-nine million United States Dollars budget support to Liberia.

A release from the EU issued Tuesday, June 2, 2020, says the grant was given last month in the revenue account of the Liberian Government, as third payment under the Organization’s budget support program.

The program is called Moving Liberia Forward-Improving Service Delivery and Public Investment.

According to the release, the disbursement comes after a fast-track approval by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development.

The Head of the EU Delegation to Liberia, Ambassador Helen Cave, said:” The move is good news for Liberians.”

Ambassador Cave expressed hope that the budget support will help the Government deal with the health and economic challenges, and reduce the hardship of Liberians during the current State of Emergency.
