Expelled Cllr. Nwabudike challenges Nat’l Bar Association’s decision

by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The   Chairman of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission has challenged his expulsion from the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA).

Last Friday, the LNBA expelled Cllr. Ndubusi Nwabudike for alleged fraud surrounding his Liberian citizenship.

But on Monday, June 22, 2020, the legal team of Cllr. Nwabudike, headed by Cllr. Alexander Zoe filed a five count petition to Justice in Chambers Jamesetta Howard-Wollokollie, seeking a writ of prohibition.

The application before the Justice in Chambers is challenging the expulsion of Cllr. Nwabudike by the Bar Association and seeking to overturn the decision.

Cllr. Zoe in his petition claimed that LNBA lacks the legal authority to expel his client, especially where the issue borders around citizenship.

According to our Judicial Reporter, Justice Howard-Wollokollie will, within a couple of days, decide to either grant or issue the alternative writ, consistent with Chapter 2.2 of the Civil Procedure Law.
