China recommits to supporting Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-China has recommitted its support to improving key sectors of Liberia, including Health and Military.

The Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy, Senior Col. Han Xiao, said:” China sees Liberia as a true partner; as such the Country is exploring more opportunities to support Liberia’s growth and development.”

Col. Han made the remarks on behalf of the Chinese Government Thursday, July 1,2020, when China donated medical aid and supplies to the 14 Military Hospital in Lower Margibi County.

The donation is worth nearly three-million United States Dollars.

The gesture included two I-C-U ambulances, two 20-foot and one 40-foot containers with medical drugs and other equipment.

Col. Han said:” China believes that with joint efforts in equipping the 14 Military Hospital, health care services will not only be delivered to AFL Personnel, but other Liberians.”

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Daniel Ziankan has praised the Chinese Government for continually standing along with Liberia, in an effort to develop the Country and empower its people.

Minister Ziankan said:” China’s latest donation to the 14 Military Hospital is a manifestation that the hospital will be second to none in the sub-region.”

Also speaking, the Commanding Military Hospital, Maj. Joseph Kowo, clarified that the equipment where not donated only for the fight against coronavirus, but was part of the plan in building the 14-Military Hospital.

He said the arrival of the equipment will now enable the hospital render other medical services to non-COVID-19 patient.
