Finance Ministry Attributes Liberia’s Economic Activity Decline to Delay in Budget Submission

by Edward Tamba

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Samora Wollokolie, has attributed the decline in economic activities in the Country to the delay in submitting the 2020/2021 Budget to the Legislature.

Minister Wolokollie said such constraint is affecting the Liberian economy.

He said the situation, caused by the effect of the COVID-19 outbreak, is creating uncertainties in the performance of the national economy to support the Budget.

Speaking to State Radio (ELBC) Monday, the Deputy Finance Minister, however, said the Budget will be submitted on or before July 15, 2020.

According to Minister Wollokolie, President George Weah has communicated with the Legislature to consider such economic constraints in the 2020/2021 Budget passage process.
