The oil spill in Bushrod Island, a suburb of Monrovia City

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency is cautioning residents of Bushrod Island not to drink from the polluted Mesurado River.

It followed a minor spillage of three thousand gallons of fuel, filled through the river on the Bushrod Island.

Mr. Henry Williams said: “Until a full environmental assessment is done, Liberians should avoid a disaster by avoid drinking from the fuel polluted Mesurado River.”

In a related development, Mr. Williams said the entity is currently paying the rent of more than five hundred people who have lost their homes due to different forms of natural disasters.

Speaking with ELBC Tuesday,July 21,2020, the National Disaster Management Agency Boss said:” The agency will pay the rent of disaster victims up to the end of this year.”
