Gov. releases new Revised Health Regulations

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has released a new set of revised health regulations, in compliance with Presidential Mandate in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.

 

It followed the end of the State of Emergency on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

 

Health Minister Dr.Wilhelmina Jallah said:” The move is imperative and necessary amidst the increasing cases of the coronavirus.”

 

Dr. Jallah said:” Government is seriously concerned about the widespread transmission of the virus in the fifteen counties, and has therefore announced a new set of revised health guidelines.”

 

Releasing the guidelines on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, on ELBC Radio, Dr.Jallah noted that the National Health Emergency Guidelines, in keeping with the Health Emergency Regulation on March 21, and pursuant to Chapter 14 of the National Public Health Law under the revised declaration, the Ministry has declared all fifteen counties as affected areas.

 

The declaration will be updated based on the prevailing situation in COVID-19 response.

 

At the same time, the Liberian Government has warned that violators of Public Health Regulations shall be fined two-hundred United States Dollars, or jailed for not less or more than thirty days, in keeping with Section 14.6 of the Public Health Law of Liberia.

 

According to the Revised Health Regulations, all persons shall strictly abide by all health protocol to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Liberia.

 

Mandatory mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing shall strictly be enforced for all persons appearing in public places, and when attending to sick persons.

 

Market buildings, vehicles, shopping centers, learning institutions, hotels among others, are deemed public places under consideration consistent with the new Revised Health Regulations.

 

Banking institutions, according to the regulations, shall only allow ten persons in their service area, and those outside the bank shall keep a distance of at least three feet apart from each other, while awaiting service.
