MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) is reporting an increase in the purchase of medicines and other pharmaceutical products, from street peddlers.
The LMHRA is a Government entity, charged with the responsibility to ensure all medicines and health products coming into the Country are safe and effective.
According to the Technical Advisor to the Managing Director, Dr. Flomoku Miller, some people are not going to recognized health centers, for fear of being diagnosed for COVID-19 symptoms.
Dr. Miller warned that drugs sold in buckets are dangerous to public health, and urged the public to refrain from buying from persons selling the products.
Also speaking, the Manager for Research, Record and Data, Emmanuel Willie, said:” Efforts are being exerted to increase the manpower of the entity’s inspectorate team to stop the sale of medicines in buckets.”
