Give Enforcement Power to Liberia Land Authority – CSOs Land Rights Working Groups

by Administrator

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Civil Society Working Groups on Land Rights Reform in Liberia wants government to give the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), and enforce power to enhance the Land Rights Law and policy regulations.

The CSOs Groups Coordinator, Alphonso Henneries, said the process can be possible through collaboration with the Justice Ministry and the Judiciary.

Mr. Henneries, then challenged Journalists covering Land Rights issues to increase public awareness in curtailing the raising concern over land disputes and land grab allegedly occurring across the country.

He made the call at a capacity briefing for several Land rights Journalists held August 6, 2020 in Monrovia, to cover the workings of the LLA, Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), in identifying institutional roles and existing policy regulatory gaps in the implementation of the Law.

According to Mr. Henneries, the conduct of journalists in revealing these lands related issues will create the needed awareness that will ensure the validation of the Tribal Certificates in communities.
