MONROVIA, LIBERIA-About seven-hundred-ninety ghost names have been removed from the payrolls of six public entities.
They are the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Justice, the Liberia National Police (LNP), Immigration, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and National Fire Service.
The removal of the non-existent employees from the payroll will save the Government of Liberia about 164 million United States Dollars, annually.
The Director General of the Internal Audit Agency, Emmanuel Nyenswa, said:” The payroll verification validates the actual number of employees working in the six entities.”
Mr. Nyenswa spoke Monday, August 17, 2020, when he released the final payroll verification report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Justice Sector.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Payroll Verification, Dell Francis Wreh, emphasized the importance of payroll clean-up in the fight against corruption.
Mr. Wreh said:” A full physical verification of Government payroll across all entities will begin in the coming weeks, to remove all ghost names from Government liabilities.”
He said:” The Task Force will also begin post audit of payrolls, to ensure that civil servants receive their just salaries.”
