MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government and Arcelor Mittal have officially launched an initiative titled, Community Development Fund for Nimba, Grand Bassa and Bong Counties.
According to ELBC Reporter, Mittal Head of Government Relations, Marcus Wleh, said:” The initiative is intended to ensure that twenty-percent of the County Social Development Fund provided by the Company is directly remitted to the three counties.”
Mr. Wleh said:” Strong partnership between the private and public sectors is crucial to promoting sustainable development in mining communities.”
According to him, the total of eight-hundred-forty-thousand United States Dollars is secured for the three counties for this year, as part of the Community Development Fund.
Meanwhile, lawmakers of the counties lauded Government and Arcelor Mittal for living up to the corporate social responsibility to the three counties.
