Monrovia Liberia – The Deputy Minister for Budget at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Tanneh Bronson is calling for better coordination and cooperation among government agencies and partners involved with disaster management.
Madam Bronson said such coordination will set the tone toward achieving the goals of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilient strategy.
The wants line agencies and partners to use the Pro-Poor Agenda as a national platform for inter-agency cooperation on disaster risk reduction.
The Deputy Finance Minister was speaking at the official launch of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilient Strategy in Monrovia.
Madam Bronson then reaffirmed the Finance Ministry’s support to toward efforts aimed at addressing issues of disaster in the country.
Meanwhile the Board Chair of the National Disaster Management Agency, Internal Affairs Minister Varney Sirleaf says Data Management is essential in the fight against disaster.
According to Minister Sirleaf database will help the Agency prepare and respond on time whenever disaster strikes.
The NDMA Board Chair urged citizens to adhere to the policy regulations of the Agency to avoid the occurrence of disasters within the communities that will burden the economy of the Country and its Partners.
He spoke at the launch of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Strategy and Disaster Database of Liberia Thursday in Monrovia.
Also Speaking, NDMA Executive Director Henry Williams said the document will assist Liberia in addressing the foremost disaster related issues, including flooding, fire, sea erosion and windstorm among others.
For his part, United Nations Development Program, Country Representative Dr. Pa Lamin Beyai commits UNDP continue support to assist Liberia build resilience and to also address the livelihood of the vulnerable in line with the country’s’ pro-poor agenda for prosperity and development.
