RABAT, MOROCCO-The Governments of Liberia and Morocco have signed three separate bilateral agreements in Agriculture, Higher Education and Health.
According to a dispatch, the Agriculture Agreement seeks to promote cooperation between the two Countries in mechanized farming, animal health and agriculture research.
Other areas include technical assistance, strengthening Liberia’s agriculture input and output analysis, agro-industry, among others.
In another agreement, the Education Agreement shall focus on scientific Research to consolidate the scientific and technological potentials, promote scientific and technical cooperation, among others.
The dispatch said the Health component of the agreement focuses on maternal, child and newborn health and epidemiological surveillance.
It will establish an Epidemic Alert and Response System, Human Resource Capacity Building, Disaster Management, Prevention and Control of Communicable, among others.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Kemayah has described as vital the Agriculture Agreement signed between both countries.
He said:” The agreement is in line with the vision of President George Weah, to ensure that the Liberian Economy becomes vibrant and competitive in the region.”
Regarding the agreement in the Health sector, Minister Kemayah said it is a strategic endeavor that fosters the Country’s development agenda by having a healthy population.
On the Higher Education Agreement, Minister Kemayah said education is essential to nation building, and the Liberian Government is delighted to sign such an agreement.
Speaking earlier at the ceremony of the three agreements in Morocco, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, said:” His Government, among other things, agreed to increase the number of scholarships for Liberians, and to also boost economic corporation with her Liberia counterpart.”
Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Dee Maxwell Kemayah, signed on behalf of the Liberian Government, while Morocco Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, signed on behalf of his Government.
