MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Authorities of the Central Bank of Liberian and other financial institutions are expected to appear before the Leadership of the House of Representatives Wednesday, November 11.
House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers told ELBC Tuesday, November 10, 2020, the CBL and others will provide justification surrounding the scarcity of Liberian dollars at commercial banks.
Speaker Chambers attributed the current scarcity to hoarding of the Liberian dollars from the market.
He wonders how there will be a scarcity of the Liberian Banknotes when the Legislature recently authorized the printing of an additional four billion to address the liquidity problem.
The Liberian Speaker called on the public to avoid hoarding and keep the Liberian banknotes in circulation.
