Gov. Delegation arrives in Nimba County to assess condition of Ivoirian refugees

NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-A high-power Government Delegation has arrived in Nimba County to assess the condition of Ivoirian refugees in the County.

The Head of the Delegation, Internal Affairs Minister, Varney Sirleaf, said the delegation comprises UNHCR, UNICEF and Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), among others.

Minister Sirleaf told ELBC Wednesday, November 11, 2020, that the delegation will visit a number of refugee camps in Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties, to gather information on the condition of the Ivoirian refugees.

He said:” At the end of the week-long visit, the delegation will compile and present an assessment report to President George Weah for perusal and action.”

In a related development, ELBC Lower Nimba County Correspondent said Ivoirian refugees, mainly women and children in Buttuo and other towns are appealing for emergency food, shelter and medication.
