Pres. Weah declares Sunday, November 29, Nat’l Holiday

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has declared Sunday, November 29, the 125th Birth Anniversary of William V.S. Tubman to be celebrated as a National Holiday throughout Liberia.

A Foreign Ministry release issued Thursday, November 26, 2020, said since the Day falls on Sunday; it would officially be celebrated on Monday, November 30, 2020, across the Country.

The Proclamation quotes President Weah as ordering ministries, agencies, business houses and market places closed on Monday from six o’clock ante meridian to six o’clock post meridian.

According to the release, the day is in consonance with the legislation enacted by the 3rd Session of the 42nd Legislature, declaring November 29 of each year as a National Holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Liberia’s 18th President, William V.S.Tubman.

The Proclamation is also in recognition of President Tubman’s productive, meaningful services and policies, particularly the Integration and Open Door Policies, among others.
