MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Judiciary has reiterated that it is under moral and professional obligation to serve in the public interest with neutrality.
Chief Justice Francis Korkpor said:” The Justice System should remain depoliticized and independent it the discharge of its functions.”
The Chief Justice’s remark is in reaction to reports accusing the involvement of some Magistrates in electoral matters, contrary to their judicial duties.
Chief Justice Korkpor said:” The Supreme Court and the Civil Law Court are clothed with the authority to hear cases arising from elections and not all courts.”
The Chief Justice also clarified that the Judiciary and the National Elections Commission have Magistrates, with specific mandates and jurisdictions.
