MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) defeated candidate, Alex Tyler, has filed a petition at the Supreme Court of Liberia against the National Elections Commission (NEC) for declaring Representative Edwin Snowe as winner of the just ended Senatorial Election in Bomi County.
According to ELBC Judicial Correspondent, Mr. Tyler’s legal team headed by Cllr. Amara Sheriff questioned the decision of the Commission in favor of Representative Snowe, with an application for a Writ of Prohibition.
The Writ of Prohibition to the Presiding Justice in Chambers is consistent with Chapter 16, Section 16.21 of the Civil Procedure Law of Liberia.
Cllr. Sheriff’s application to the High Court, among other things, claimed that the National Elections Commission was in error to declare Representative Snowe winner, when election dispute is still before them for determination.
Our Judicial Correspondent said the Presiding Justice in Chamber has cited all parties for conference on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Temple of Justice before reaching any decision.
