MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has stressed the need for West African leaders to remain resolved in combating coronavirus, terrorism and human trafficking.
President Weah said:” Several West Africans have died from those vices, which have also disrupted the economies and livelihoods of people in the ECOWAS region.”
The Liberian Leader pledged Liberia’s support to promote peace and security in the region.
President Weah spoke Saturday, January 23, 2021, when he addressed the 58th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS via videoconference.
The Liberian Chief Executive urged his colleagues to redouble their efforts in tackling the threats also posed by insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea, due to piracy and other related crimes.
President Weah commended the Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Nana Akufo Addo for his steadfast and proactive leadership being exhibited to resolve the crisis in the region, including Mali, Gambia and Guinea Bissau.
