MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Management of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has apologized to the House of Representatives for honoring the body’s Tuesday citation.

According to ELBC Reporter, the LRA, APM Terminals, BIVAC, Shipping lines, among other institutions, were cited to provide information surrounding tariff increment at the National Port Authority (NPA).

But the LRA Commissioner General, Thomas Nah Doe, in his apology stated that their appearance coincided with the Annual World Custom Day celebration in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Recounting the longstanding relationship with the National Legislature towards the improvement of the sector, Mr. Nah distanced the LRA from the tariff increment by APM Terminals.

However, our Reporter said the National Legislature dropped the contempt charge against the LRA.

Meanwhile, Plenary requested its Judiciary, Finance and Commerce Committees to further review information provided by the LRA and report within two weeks.

Still at the National Legislature, the House of Representatives has held in contempt the Management of BIVAC for failing to honor two separate citations of the august body.

According to our Correspondent, BIVAC failed to honor the two separate citations of the Management on Tuesday, January 26 and Thursday, January 28, 2021, of this week without information.

The House of Representatives said BIVAC’s action violates Article 44 of the Liberian Constitution, and therefore, the entity is required to appear with its legal team to show cause.
