MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) is investigation a fifty-year Indian National for old actions leading to human trafficking.
Mr. Anniel Malik is said to have brought one of his kinsmen from India, promising to make him Branch Manager with a monthly salary of five-hundred-fifty United States Dollars, which did not materialize.
Speaking in an ELBC interview Sunday, January 31, 2021, LIS Communication Director, Abraham Dolley, said preliminary investigation showed that the man’s action is an element of human trafficking.
He said:” The suspect has been detained in a withholding cell of LIS, pending investigation that could lead to his indictment.”
In a related development, Mr. Dolley disclosed that the LIS has intercepted twenty-two children at the Salala Check Point in Bong County.
The LIS Communication Director said: “The kids were allegedly recruited by an individual hailing from Gbarpolu County, under the pretense of taking them to Division Twenty-Five in Firestone to acquire education.”
Mr. Dolley said five of the twenty-two children are males while seventeen are females.
