MONROVIA, LIBERIA-European Union (EU) Ambassador to Liberia has affirmed a sustained partnership with the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), to improve local content.
Ambassador Laurent Delahousse said:” Though some need to be updated; the State Broadcaster has the equipment to improve its local content.”
The EU Ambassador, on behalf of other member States, including Germany, Ireland and Sweden among others, promised to cooperate with LBS to share Europe’s messages and discuss the situation in Liberia.
Ambassador Delahousse made the remarks on Monday, April 5, 2021, at the end of an official visit at the compound of the LBS in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Laurent Delahousse wants the State Broadcaster fully funded to enhance its work, and also build the capacity of its staff.
At the same time, the Director General of LBS, Estelle Liberty-Kemoh, has termed as fruitful the meeting held with the EU Ambassador.
Madam Liberty-Kemoh said:” Ambassador Delahousse recommended an improvement in local content, especially, in the areas of agriculture and nutrition, among others.”
According to her, the EU Ambassador’s courtesy call signifies the expectations that are required by the State Broadcaster by the Country’s International partners.
She expressed the hope that the expectation between the LBS and the EU would deepen into transformative gains.
Speaking to ELBC following Ambassador Delahousse’s visit, the LBS Boss thanked the EU Ambassador for the visit, and promised to consider the recommendation to improve local contents.
