Forestry Dev. Authority denies approving killing of any Chimpanzee in Nimba County

by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Forestry Development Authority (FDA) has denied authorizing the killing of any chimpanzee in Nimba County.

The FDA’s assertion is in relation to recent report of a chimpanzee that allegedly raped a four-year old child in the County.

ELBC Upper Nimba County Correspondent said: “The FDA also doubts the possibility of the chimpanzee raping the child.”

Our Correspondent quotes a release from FDA as saying report of a chimpanzee raping is a calculated attempt to cover up a crime committed by someone else.

According to our Correspondent, the Authority has also dispatched a team, including officers of the Liberia National Police to investigate the claims.

Meanwhile, the victim is said to be undergoing treatment at the Saclepea Comprehensive Health Center, in Lower Nimba County.
