MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Management and workers of the Bea Mountain Company have entered into a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), to foster labor harmony and ensure productivity.
The CBA also covers workers of the Construction and Mining Contractors, a company operating for Bea Mountain in Grand Cape Mount County.
The Agreement was signed on behalf of the Bea Mountain Workers by its bargaining agent, the United Workers Union of Liberia (UWUL) and supervised by the Ministry of Labor, Republic of Liberia.
During the signing ceremony on Friday, April 16, 2021, in Monrovia, the Director of Trade Union Affairs at the Ministry of Labor, Boakai Sirleaf, encouraged the scrupulously implementation of every provision in the CBA in the interest of the workers and the management.
Mr. Sirleaf urged the parties to see the CBA as an instrument that would guide both the workers and the management in the daily activities, within the concession.
Bea Mountain Company Country Manager, Darbah Allen, recounted the impact of Covid-19 on the process leading to the signing of the agreement and, however, described it as a good instrument in moving the company forward.
Mr. Allen said:” I was happy that, despite challenges that engulfed the process, they were able to finally conclude on the signing of the CBA.”
The Secretary of the UWUL, David Sneh, expressed the hope that the CBA will be respected fully by the two parties.
Mr. Sneh assured that UWUL will follow the implementation of CBA to ensure compliance.
