GRAND BASSA COUNTY- President George Weah has assured a positive response to the plights of the people of District-1, Grand Bassa County.
President Weah said the citizens’ request for a ferry for the people of Jacob Larteh Town to cross the Farmington River will be given first priority.
However, the Liberian Leader has urged the legislative caucus of Grand Bassa County to work with the executive to implement some of the projects.
President Weah was speaking Wednesday, April 21, 2021, during an interactive town hall meeting with citizens of the area in Compound #One at Jacob Larteh Town, Grand Bassa County.
He also promised to ensure the only clinic in Compound #One, is upgraded to a full health center and rehabilitates the Grand Bassa community college bridge.
This followed the citizens appealed to the Liberian Leader to help them with a ferry to ease the difficulties as they complained of being unable to cross the river to the District headquarters for medical services and purchase goods and services.
Earlier, the Youth President of Compound #One, Charles Hundrich named the establishment of a TVET institute, solar panel light, and renovation of schools in the District as development requests.
For his part, Grand Bassa County Senator, Jonathan Kaipee, said the Bassa caucus is ready to work along with President Weah to achieve his development goals in the County.
“The members of the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus have resolved to put aside their ego to ensure President Weah’s development agenda is achieved”, Senator Kaipee said.
However, the county has appealed to President Weah to complete the appointment of board members for the Grand Bassa Community College.
According to Senator Kaipee, the rehabilitation of the bridge linking the college and the City of Buchanan is another major project for the County.
The Senator then thanked President Weah for visiting the County and expressed the hope that his stay in Grand Bassa will bring about transformation in communities that are challenged.
