Women Football League finally kicks off in Maryland County

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Maryland County (LFA) Sub Association has kicked started the first U-17 Female League in Harper and Pleebo Cities.

The league began Sunday, April 25, 2021, with three of the four games ending in deadlocks.

In the first match, Setonic played Blue Jet to a 1 – 1 draw.

It was the same result between Maryland Angels and Hance United in game two.

Roma FC and Chaweka FC held each other to a 0-0 draw.

Samera FC defeated Divine United Girls 1-0 at the St Frances field in Pleebo City.

Maryland County becomes the first LFA Sub Association, after Montserrado County, to stage a female league.

Female soccer has, for the past time, being played in Maryland County but was not organized under the LFA.

According to report, several communities in Harper and Pleebo Cities have expressed interest in landing support to the female football teams.

Maryland County was the only county that registered Women football team to compete in the last National County Sports meet.

The Maryland ladies played an all-star female team in an exhibition match on the opening day of the 2020/2021 National County Sports Meet.
