Liberia NGO Network trains in public education, sexual gender based-violence and harmful practices

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A network of 25 local NGOs under the banner, Liberia NGO Network, LINNK, has begun an intensive awareness and public education campaign against sexual and gender based violence against women and children and harmful practices.

The month long campaign will take place simultaneously in the five Counties. The counties are Nimba, Grand Cape Mount, Lofa, Grand Gedeh and Montserrado.

The Chairman of LINNK, Mr. Stephen Norman told ELBC during a one-day workshop for the Public defenders on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, that with support from EU and the United Nations, the Public Defenders will be educating the Public on the simplified version of the Rape Law of Liberia as part of the spotlight initiative project.

Mr. Norman at the end of the training, a resolution will be presented to government about the issue of SGBV in the country.

The training has brought together the Police, Traditional Leaders, civil society organizations and community based organizations.
