Liberia Immigration Service arrests 37 for alleged illegal entry into Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has confirmed the arrest of at least thirty-seven persons in Gbarnga, Bong County, for alleged illegal entry into the Country.

According to the LIS, the arrested persons include nineteen aliens, three Sierra Leoneans, fourteen Ghanaians, two Nigerians and eighteen Liberians.

LIS Director of Communication, Abraham Dolley, said:” The suspects were on board three buses on their way to Monrovia, and did not enter Liberia through a legal entry point with valid travelling documents.”

In an ELBC interview Thursday, May 20, 2021, Mr. Dolley said their alleged action violates Section 5.90 of the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia.

He said the arrested individuals had been brought to the Headquarters of the LIS in Monrovia, for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dolley said the suspects could be fined, and foreign nationals extradited based on the outcome of the investigation
