MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive has submitted to the House of Representatives Special Budget in the tune of three-hundred-one-point-five (301.5) million United States Dollars.
Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Affairs, Samora Wollokollie, said the budget will cover a period of six months, beginning July 2021 to December 2021.
Deputy Minister Wollokollie said:” Section 65 of the amended and restated Public Financial Management Act of 2009 provides for the change in the fiscal period, and the formulation of a Special National Budget for a period of six months to pave the way for transition to the new fiscal year.”
According to the Deputy Finance Minister, the budget, among other things, highlights key expenditure, including public debt service, healthcare, energy infrastructure, education and local development programs.
In remarks, House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, lauded the Executive for the submission, and expressed the hope that the budget serves the best interest of Liberians.
Speaker Chambers said:” In line with article 34 “D”, the House and the Senate will take appropriate measures leading the a timely passage of the instrument.”
