Six Montserrado County Women-led Civil Society, CBOs Training starts under ‘Mobile for Promotion of Justice for Women, Girls Rights project’

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- A four day capacity building training of trainers gathering of six women-led civil society organizations, CBOs, NGOs under the ‘Mobile for the Promotion of Justice for Women and Girls Rights’ project in Liberia’, has convened in Monrovia.

The Project is being funded by Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund and Spotlight Initiative through the United Nations Women; and Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions are intended to expose selected beneficiary women led and women’s rights CSOs to the findings from the recent research conducted by Platform for Dialogue and Peace (P4DP) in the two counties.

Among the women led organizations participating in the training include, Traditional Women United for Peace in Liberia and Liberia Albino Society, among others.

P4DP is a Liberian peace building, research and development NGO, implementing the training ‘Mobile for the Promotion of Justice for Women and Girls Rights’ project in Liberia’.

Speaking at the start of the training, Wednesday, 26, 2021, at the Slipway Town Hall, in Montserrado County, P4DP’s Gender Officer, Diemah McCrownsey said the training is to broaden the understanding of women on how to conduct and lead community advocacy and awareness on the social and cultural norms in Montserrado County.

Also speaking, Ministry of Gender Research Officer, Mamatu King said one of the major areas of gender gap is in education.

Madam King said the creation of an Act that created the Gender Ministry, shows that government is committed to resolving gender issues among others in Liberia.

The trainings will also provide the CSOs with some basic understanding on how to conduct and lead community advocacy and awareness campaigns around social and cultural norms.
