MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The House of Representatives has ratified a financing agreement titled, Liberia Electricity Strengthening and Access Project.
According to ELBC reporter, plenary took the decision Tuesday, June 2, 2021, following a report from the House Joint Committee on Ways and Means, Public Accounts and Judiciary.
The committees recounted challenges confronting the electricity sector and said the ratification will increase access to electricity and improve the operational efficiency of the Liberia Electricity Corporation- LEC.
The committees also added that parts one and three of the project shall be implemented by the LEC while part two shall be implemented by the Rural Renewable Energy Agency.
The total cost stipulated in the agreement is in the tune of US54.5 million. The instrument has since been forwarded to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
