MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives has mandated its Judiciary and Information Committees to probe allegations that it received bribe to stall to establish War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
Plenary of the House of Representatives took the decision on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, following a disclosure by Nimba County District-Five Representative, Samuel Kogar.
Representative Kogar said:” The allegation was made against by the former Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Cllr. Jerome Verdier, during a Congressional Hearing in the United States of America.”
The Nimba County Lawmaker, among other colleagues, distanced the body from the allegations, adding that it undermines the prestige and dignity of the body.
According to them, contrary to Cllr. Verdier’s assertion, the body has taken series of steps, including the formulation of a resolution towards the establishment of the Court.
