MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Monrovia Central Court has sent to jail Emmanuel Gonquoi and two other leaders of the Economic Freedom Fighters.
They were arrested Monday, August 9, 2021, during the morning hours and brought to court where they were charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, felonious restrain and disorderly conduct.
Our reporter said though the crimes charged are billable under the laws, the three EFF Leaders could not secure a valid criminal appearance bond in the presence of their lawyers.Their writ of arrest was triggered by last month attack at the Capitol by the EFF where they reportedly locked the gates and prevented lawmakers from entering the building.
The court document further accused the EFF Members of inflicting injuries on the security guards assigned at the Capitol building during their violent protest.
In another development, Criminal Courts A, B, C, D and E have opened for the August Term of Court.
