MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Finance has launched the Draft 2022 Fiscal Budget in the tone of seven-hundred-eighty-five-million United States Dollars.
The 2022 fiscal budget launched Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, is the highest in post-war Liberia.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Finance Minister for Budget, Jesse Koboi, said the exercise is part of the Ministry’s outreach activities aimed at engaging line ministries and agencies on the budget process.”
Key in the 2022 Fiscal Budget is a thirty-million USD allotment for the holding of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.
Assistant Minister Koboi said:” The amount is part of the sixty-five-million USD projected by the National Elections Commission, while the balance thirty-five million will be allotted in the 2023 fiscal year.”
For his part, the Director General of the Cabinet, Jordan Solunteh, called on Ministries and Agencies to ensure that their budgets are strategically aligned with government’s development focus.
