MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Joint Security says it has received every aspect of the national security situation in the Country, and resolved to augment its Community Policing Program, increase foot and mobile patrols, as a means of combating crimes in the communities.
The Joint Security has further resolved to revive community watch teams to be vetted through the Community Watch Forum and the Liberia National Police (LNP).
According to a Justice Ministry release issued Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the decisions were reached Tuesday during a special meeting convened at the Justice Ministry, to look at the state of security in the Country.
Regarding investigations into the recent deaths of John Tubman, Rev. William R. Tolbert, III, and Madam Maude Elliot, the Joint Security has constituted a special panel, comprising criminal investigation experts from each of the security agencies, to conduct a comprehensive and exhaustive investigation.
The Panel, headed by the Crimes Services Division of the LNP, is mandated to explore every lead in these investigations and others to a complete conclusion, as the Government of Liberia works towards the protection of its citizens and foreign residents.
According to the release, the Special Joint Security Investigation Panel is soliciting any information from the general public that could speedily assist in solving the above mentioned case.
It can be recalled that the Liberian Government put up a reward of five-thousand United States Dollars, for information leading to the arrest of culprits involved in each of the three death cases.
Meanwhile, several persons of interest, including relatives of the deceased persons, private security personnel, drivers and others have been declared persons of interest to the investigations.
