MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has recommended the strengthening of several mechanisms to protect and empower women and girls around the world.
President Weah said:” This can only be achieved when their rights are protected and livelihood sustained.”
The Liberian Leader stated that there are inherent disparities between men and women, for which an urgent action needs to be taken to address the situation.
President Weah was speaking Friday, November 12, at the forty-first General Conference and 75th anniversary of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France.
President Weah informed world leaders attending the UNESCO gathering that, as Feminist-in-Chief in Liberia, he will continue to champion women’s right.
President Weah said achieving gender equality is one of his government’s priorities.
