MONROVIA, LIBERIA-ELBC Lofa County Correspondent, Tokpa Tarnue, has won the prestigious Liberia 2021 Integrity icon award.
Mr. Tarnue, who was among five finalists, won the total of 247, out of 639 votes on line, to clinch the title.
Speaking at the program on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, US Ambassador Michael McCarty said:” Integrity includes the adherence to ethical values and principles that prioritize the public interest, over private interest.”
Ambassador McCarthy said:” It is also the critical ingredient that breeds good governance, boosts civic confidence, and enhance inclusive prosperity and stability.”
Press Union if Liberia President, Charles Coffey, lauded journalist Tarnue for serving as an example for journalists in ensuring ethical and professional journalism.
Receiving the award, journalist Tarnue lauded those that voted and stressed that, if Liberia should be developed, the issue of integrity must be prioritized.
He said:” As an Integrity Icon winner, going back in the community is important, though it’s a challenge, but we should set examples so that others follow suit.”
