MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has, by proclamation, declared Friday, December 10, 2021, as International Human Rights Day, to be observed throughout the Country as a Working Holiday.
According to a Foreign Ministry release issued Thursday, December 9, 2021, the Liberian Leader called upon all citizens and foreign residents to join the National Human Rights Commission in commemoration of the day.
This year’s celebration marks the 73rd commemoration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which Liberia is a signatory.
The day is being celebrated under theme: “EQUALITY-Reducing inequalities, Advancing Human Rights in Liberia.”
On December 10, 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, mandating state parties to promote, protect and respect human and people’s rights.
