MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministers of Finance and Justice want the National Legislature nullify the controversial ETON and EBOMOF loan deals.
Finance Minister Samuel Tweah said:” The deal did not materialize and, therefore, does not have any legal binding on the Liberian Government.”
Minister Tweah said the Liberian Government did not receive a dime from the deals, thus prompting the need for nullification.
For his part, Justice Minister Musa Dean described the deals as ‘non-performing agreements.’
The Ministers were speaking when they appeared before Plenary of the Liberian Senate on Thursday, December 16, 2021, on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.
The Liberian Senate later took the discussion to an Executive Session, citing security implications.
