MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah says the Omicron variant has not been confirmed in Liberia, but added that COVID-19 remains active.

Dr. Jallah said:” Liberia will have to do a special test on forty specimens out of the Country, to find out whether or not the Omicron variant is in the Country.”

She said while Liberia is working with the African Union (AU) to take the specimens out for testing, the cases of Coronavirus remain high, though there has been no death since October 2021.

Speaking at the MICAT Press Conference Thursday, December 6, 2022, in Monrovia, Dr. Jallah said Liberia now has eight-hundred active cases of COVID-19.

She said Montserrado County accounts for six-hundred-forty-seven cases, under the control of the Ministry of Health.

Minister Wilhelmina Jallah reiterated calls for Liberians and foreign residents to comply with the health regulations.
