MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) says it is encouraged by renewed commitment by President George Weah, in the fight against corruption.
President Weah, in his annual message, promised to work with the Liberian Senate to pass sweeping new legislations, including those that will give the LACC direct prosecutorial powers.
The Commission said it now counts on the Liberian Senate to help the LACC resolve issues of corruption that have been lingering, due to the lack of powers to prosecute cases, directly.
An LACC statement issued Thursday, January 27, 2022, quotes the Commission Chairperson, Edwin Kla Martin, as saying the Commission intends to continue on its vigorous approach toward the corruption fight, including naming and shaming corrupt officials.
Cllr, Martin is meanwhile reminding public officials to the procurement and public Financial Management laws, as well as other processes aimed at reducing fraud and corruption in the governance process of the Country
