Play a lead role in sustaining the peace of Liberia-Amb. Boakai

MONROVIA, LIBEERIA-Former Vice President Joseph Boakai has rallied the church to play a lead role towards the sustenance of peace in the Country.

Ambassador Boakai said:” It is only the church that has a unique role of encouraging the week to be strong, poor to be rich, and national leaders to lead by God’s purpose.”

According to him, the church of Liberia, despite varying denominations, is united in the purpose of serving God, and praying for the Country.

The former Liberian Leader was speaking over the weekend at program marking the induction of the General Superintendent and others of the Assemblies of God Church-Liberia, in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.

Also speaking, Arch-Bishop Isaac Winker of the Dominion Christian Fellowship encouraged the entire membership of the Assemblies of God Church to remain supportive of the new leadership.

Arch-Bishop Winker said:” Often people select their leaders and take the back seat, without taking ownership of the very leadership they put in power.”

In his induction speech, the new inducted General Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Abenda Tamba, said his leadership intends to work by God’s  devine guidance in evert future undertaking.

Rev. Dr. Tamba then promised a one year salary waiver in his new position to raise fund for the elevation of the BibleCollege to a full university.

He said the task is to instill in members the culture of sacrifice, as well as keep the church more  united and reconciled.

For his part, the outgoing General Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Edwin Gbelly, promised his support to the new administration, and boasted of a  more united  church under his administartion.

Rev. Dr. Edwin Gbelly served as General Superintendent of the Assemblies of  God Church-Liberia for eight years.
