GBARNGA, CENTRAL LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has dedicated the first regional office of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in Gbarnga, Central Liberia.
Speaking at the program on Friday, March 18, 2022, Madam Howard-Taylor made a passionate plea for international partners to increase support to the Agency, if disaster risk reduction must be tackled across the Country.
She said:” While Government continues to fulfill its part of intervention plans, international partners should, as well, endeavor to increase logistical support to them as disaster prevention, response and recovery require logistical inputs.
NDMA’s initiative supports Government’s plans to decentralize disaster risk reduction activities in Liberia.
A statement from the Office of the Vice President reechoed President Weah’s support to the NDMA and its quest to reduce the risk and impact people suffered when exposed to disaster risk.
She then lauded the NDMA on decentralizing its activities across the Country, in order to enhance its work.
But she said that it would be impossible for the NDMA to singlehandedly achieves its mandate in the absence of collaboration with relevant institutions of Government.
