MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has clarified that there is absolutely no shortage of rice on the Liberian market, and cautioned against any form of panic buying.
The clarification comes in the wake of a recent confusion between rice distributors and some marketers, following the reported refusal of distributors to sell their products.
Government also emphasized that it has enough stockpile of rice already in the Country, while additional consignment are expected to arrive by April, next month.
It says the misunderstanding stemmed from a small glitch in the distribution circle, adding that Government will continue to ensure the stability of the market price of the commodity.

Meanwhile, the Government is urging politicians to avoid attempting to score political capital at the expense of the Country’s hard-earned peace.
The Government also wants all Liberians to play their part in the maintenance of the democratic course the Country now enjoys.
Meanwhile, the Government has taken some concrete steps to stabilize the price of r ice.
Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie disclosed that Government is working with importers of the commodity to bring about such stability.
Minister Rennie sad such adjustments will be done in a way that will make the price of rice affordable.
