MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Unity Party (UP) has complained of alleged conspiracy intended to exclude them from participating in the Senatorial By-Election in Lofa County, and subsequent elections.
The UP wants the Liberian Government and the International Community to quickly intervene.
Addressing a news conference in Monrovia on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the Party National Chairman, Amin Modad, said:” The situation stems from a recent communication written to the National Elections Commission (NEC) by some opposition politicians.”
Chairman Modad stated the letter under the signatures of Musa Bility, Martin Kollah and the Alternative National Congress (ANC) is seeking clarity and advice on the status of the UP and the ALP within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).
He added that the communication asks NEC to deny the UP and the All Liberian Party (ALP) from fielding candidates in the name of their respective parties.
Chairman Modad, however, clarified that the UP has since written the three other political parties, duly informing them about its withdrawal from the CPP.
