Pres. Weah attends UN Conference of Parties on Land Sustainability in the Ivory Coast

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah is in neighboring Ivory Coast for the United Nations Conference on Parties on Land Sustainability.

While in the Ivory Coast, President Weah will mainly attend the Heads of State Summit on Drought Resilience and Sustainable Land Management.

The Summit is under the auspices of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which runs from May 9-20th, 2022.

According to an Executive Mansion release issued over the weekend, the Summit is geared towards   building a Big Green Wall Agenda that offers a concrete response to the inter-connected challenges of land degradation, climate change and biodiversity loss.

The Summit held under the theme: “Land. Life. Legacy: From Scarcity to Prosperity”, is a call to action to ensure that land, the lifeline on this planet, continues to benefit present and future generations.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Samuel Tweah will act as Chair of the Cabinet, in consultation with the Vice President of Liberia and via telephone with the President.
