MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Opposition Unity Party (UP) says its lawyers will communicate with the National Elections Commission (NEC), on the Party’s final decision on the just ended Lofa County Senatorial By-Election.
The UP said such communication will determine their next course of action on the election result.
Addressing a news conference in Monrovia on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the UP Standard Bearer, Joseph Boakai, claimed there were discrepancies in the process.
Ambassador Boakai maintained that UP Candidate Galakpa Kortimai won the recent Senatorial By-election, adding that stats received from party observers have indicated that Mr. Kortimai won four of the five electoral district s in the county.
The former Vice President claimed that the current makeup of the NEC is not representative of the people’s interest.
Ambassador Boakai wants the current Board of Commissioners replaced with what he called competent and partisan free Board, to prepare for the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.
