MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Breakthrough Action and UNICEF, is expected to carry out pets vaccination exercised in six of Liberia’s fifteen counties.
The counties are Nimba, Lofa, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and Montserrado Counties.
The move, according to health authorities, is set to tackle diseases, mainly rabies as well as other zoonotic infections.
However, citizens are encouraged to turn out with their pets for the exercise, to help reduce animal infections to ensure the overall safety of the environment.
In an ELBC interview Tuesday, July 19, 2022, the Director of Epic at the Ministry of Health, Eddie Fangaloe, said the ten-day vaccination campaign will be preceded by three-day awareness.
He said:” The vaccines will be available at clinics, hospitals and designated sites in targeted communities.”
The nationwide vaccination exercise is, by extension, a global initiative supported by Global Health Security Agenda to reduce animals’ infections and ensure a safer environment.
